VITAL STATISTICS
Increase In Births Births in Timaru during September show an increase over the corresponding month last year, but there is a decrease in marriages. For the quarter ending September 30 there was an increase of 25 births over the same quarter in 1943. The statistics for September with the figures for the corresponding month last year in parentheses are:—Births 53 149), deaths 21 (22), marriages 12 (22). The Registrar (Mr D. C. E. Webster) officiated at two Registry Office marriages last month, but not at any in September, 1943. Following are the quarterly statistics with the figures for the corresponding period last year in parentheses:— Births 146 (121), deaths 86 (88), marriages 41 (54). There were five marriages at the Registry Office as compared with one in the same period in 1943.
