MERIT RECOGNISED

Pilot Awarded D.F.C. (10 p.m.) KANDY, Sept. 14. The award of the D.F.C. to Flying Officer V. C. Bargh, of Featherston, New Zealand, will be published in the “London Gazette” to-morrow. The citation states: Flying Officer Bargh has been with the squadron since March. 1941, and has carried out 150 operational sorties of 225 hours’ duration. His keenness in operation is exceptional and an inspiration to his fellow-pilots. A reliable leader, a first-class pilot of courageous disposition, he has set a high standard of air fighting in attacks on enemy lines of communication, enemy troops and positions. He is a capable and inspiring leader who sets the finest example at all times.
