A military court in Algiers sentenced to death Colonel Justin Mangin, former ex-chief of the Vichy Tricolour Legion in North Africa, it also sentenced General Eugene Blanc, who was jointly charged with Colonel Mangin to 20 years’ imprisonment. Colonel Mangm and General Blanc were accused of enrolling men in f’avoi • of a Power warring against France. Colonel Mangin allegedly received 1,000.000 francs for recruiting 50 men for service in Russia. General Blanc, who received nothing, resigned after six weeks’ service with the Tricolour Legion.
