LOST AT SEA
Fairlie Officer Returning On Furlough Second-Lieutenant Alan C. T. Robertson, who was lost at sea when New Zealand on furlough, was the son of Mr V/. A. Robertson, Fairlie. 2nd-Lieutenant Robertson left New Zealand as a sergeant in an early draft,
and saw service in Libya, Greece, Crete and Egypt. After leaving the Fairlie District High School, 2nd.-Lieutenant Robertson was apprenticed to a firm of builders. He was a prominent member of the Aorangi Football Club, and was a valuable member of the Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band, for some time acting as a pipe-major. 2nd.-Lieutenant Robertson was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in September, 1942, for gallant and distinguished service, and later received his commission. A brother, Sergeant Pilot Evan Robertson, was killed in operations over Germany.
