RAID ON FORMOSA

Large Fires Started

(Rec. 6.30) LONDON, Jan. 15. An American raid on Formosa is announced in a Delhi communique from Major-General J. C. Stilwell. Liberators of the Fourteenth U.S.A.A.F. on Tuesday night dropped 12 tons of bombs starting large fires. They encountered intense ground fire. Next night American planes raided Bangkok, dropping lf> tons of bombs. The aerodrome at Bangkok was also attacked. American Mitchell bombers bombed four ships of about 800 and 900 tons near Fort Bayard, Kwanchowan Peninsula, says a communique issued by Major-General Stilwell. One vessel Was blown up and three others damaged. Warehouses, the cavalry barracks and the radio station were also bombed.
