RUBBISH HEAPS NOW GARDENS
Work Of Timaru Police
Many people imagine that the policeman's life ts an easy one, but those who inspect the garden plots at the rear of the Timaru Police Station will realise that the Timaru Police Force numbers amongst its ranks a number of enthusiastic gardeners, and that there is no need to urge upon them the slogan “Dig for Victor,’.” In these garden plots flourish cabbages with magnificent white hearts, peas in full pod. “outsizes” in onions, and tomatoes that have been duly sworn to be the largest in Timaru. Only a year or so ago much of this area was a rubbish heap and these amateur gardeners deserve credit for the way in which they have cleared the ground and brought it under cultivation.
