LEVELS COUNTY ENGINEER
Termination Of Appointment
“No Complaint With
Work”
A special meeting of the Levels County Council decided to invite applications for the position of engineer to the council, the services of the present engineer (Mr A. R. Callander) having been terminated. Questioned last evening, Mr Callander said that he had been handed a letter by the chairman of the council (Mr R. G. Cleland) which stated that, under the terms of the conditions of his employment, he was given one month’s notice of the termination of his appointment as engineer and was released from duty forthwith. "Mr Cleland told me that there was no complaint with my professional work,” said Mr Callander, "and the only reason for the terminating of my appointment was a disagreement between the County Clerk (Mr G. B. Bird) and myself.”
