Otago Shearing Season
"Shearing operations in Otago are progressing much more satisfactorily than was expected to be the case a few weeks ago,” said the secretary of the Otago Primary Production Council (Mr E. H. Calder). “The shortage of shearers has caused the farmers much concern, and the delays arising from this cause will result in the season extending over a somewhat longer period than is normally the case.” Md Calder added that, on the other hasd, the position had been assisted by the favourable weather and by the fact that in many districts the farmers had co-operated in carrying out shearing in tht various sheds.
