Sheep Dog Registrations
For 2/6 each, farmers in the Waitotara County will be able to register any number of sheep or cattle dogs next year, instead of being limited to three at this rate as at present. It was pointed out at the meeting of the county council that the restriction of the concession to three dogs encouraged dishonesty, as nobody ever paid the full rate of 10/- when they had more. In addition, conditions on many properties made it necessary for a settler to have many more dogs for stock purposes. The council declined to support a suggestion that rabbit dogs up to eight should be registered for 17- each. The registration fee for dogs other than those used for stock purposes will remain at 10/- for 1944
