Mr W. A. Kenny, chief inspector of the Union Bank, who has been paying a brief visit to New Zealand has returned to Australia. Mr A. G. Buckland, who for some years was accountant of the National Bank of New Zealand at Invercargill and is now manager at Hokitika, has been appointed manager at Pukekohe. Major C. W. H. Tripp, of Otaraia, has arrived at Gore on furlough from the Pacific area and travelled to Waikaia. His exploits with the Fijian commando units are well known.

Mr S. Hapi Love, Wellington, has been appointed technician of the mobile X-ray unit which is to operate in Taranaki in connection with detection and treatment of tuberculosis. The unit will be the first of its kind in New Zealand.

Dr. A. Bonar Lindsay, formerly of Christchurch, and now of the Indian Medical Service, was awarded the 0.8. E. in the New Year Honours for services with the Army Medical Corps in Burma and Eastern Frontier operations.

Mr R. J. Gibbons, an officer of the United States Foreign Service, has arrived in New Zealand to take up duty at the American Legation in Wellington. Mr Gibbons has spent the last six years on the staff of the Legation at Teheran, his first post in the service. He was previously a member of the United States Marine Corps.

Mr Charles Douglas has been appointed by a meeting of directors general manager of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ - Co-operative Association Ltd., in place of the late Mr George Kelly, whose death occurred last month. Mr Douglas joined the company as secretary 26 years ago and has been assistant general manager since 1938. At the same meeting. Mr E. J. Phillips, secretary of the association. was appointed assistant general manager.
