DOMINION BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Play Commences To-day
The New Zealand bowling championship tournament will be commenced this morning when an opening function will be held at 8.45 on the Dunedin Bowling Club’s green, where the visiting bowlers will be officially welcomed bv the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen). The Dunedin Club will be the headquarters, of the tournament. The 544 entries in the Singles have been divided into 76 sections, 38 of which will be played on 18 greens to-day, and the remainder on 18 greens to-morrow. The large entry for the Pairs, numbering 486. has been divided into 70 sections. Eight sections will be plaved on four green to-day, and 10 sections on five greens to-morrow, although the pairs nlaying on these days will consist only of players who are in both the Singles and the Pairs. The remaining 52 sections of the Pairs will be plaved on 26 greens on Friday, and post-section play in both Pairs and Singles will be held on Saturday. The Fours Competition will be commenced on Monday. This competition has been divided into 17 sections of 12 fours each and three sections of 14, and play will take place on 20 greens.
