GERALDINE WOOLLEN CLOTHING FOR ENGLAND

Sick Children Benefit LETTER OF APPRECIATION RECEIVED Advice that woollen clothing forwarded through the Victoria League for sick children in England have arrived safely and are much appreciated has been received by Mrs R. H. Orbell (chairwoman of the Geraldine Red Cross Depot Committee). “Three lovely parcels of woollies have just arrived at this hospital and I would like to thank you very much indeed for sending them,” writes Matron Dorothy A. Lane, of ths Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London. “They are just what I want, and they have arrived when they are most needed at the beginning of the winter. If it is passible, I would like vou to thank the kind people who knitted them and tell them how grateful I am. “We have opened more wards in this hospital, and also another convalescent home, so that we have needed little garments more than ever, and your generous gift will be of very real help to us. I do assure you that the kindness of our friends in New Zealand is appreciated by every one in this hospital.” Vital Statistics Six births were recorded in Geraldine during December, 1943, compared with onlv two in the corresponding month last year. Two deaths , were recorded compared with only ope in the same period last year. Three marriages were registered compare-1 with two in December last year. Personal Mr and Mrs A. Prosser (Granity) are the guests of the Rev. and Mrs F. O. Prosser, Geraldine. Mrs J. Webb is visiting Mrs R. Patrick, Geraldine. Miss Norma Neutze is spending a holiday in Ashburton. Miss Elsie Rawson, who has been the guest of Miss Ruby Neutze, Speechley’s Bridge has returned to Palmerston. Miss B. Charters, who has been visiting Geraldine, has returned to Dunedin. Mrs B. Rusbatch. who has been the guest of Mrs A. Sherratt, has returned south. Mr and Mrs T. Parfitt are spending a short holiday In Getraldine as the guests of the Rev. F. O. Prosser and Mrs Prosser. Mr and Mrs E. O'Neill (Invercargill) who have been visiting Mr and Mrs J. Kerr, have returned south.
