The Festival Plays At a meeting of the executive of the South Canterbury Drama League, Mr C. F. B. Clarke,' on behalf of the casting committee, reported that the following eight plays had been selected for this year’s festival: —Harold Brighouse’s "Lonesome Like,” Edward Percy’s “Red Wax.” M. and S. Box’s “Sing a Song a Sixpence,” Gertrude Jennings’s “Scrops,” F. Carmichael Brunton’s “Mr Edwards,” Alice Brown’s “Joint Owners In Spain,” Bernard Duffy’s “The Coiner,” and J. Niggle’s “Sunday Cost 5 Pesos.” Mr Clarke said that parts had been allotted to all players who had expressed their willingness to participate in the festival. The president <Mr A. E. Lawrence) .said that the casting committee had had a difficult task, but the committee had succeeded in placing all available players in a collection of very attractive plays. It was decided to approve the recommendations ot the casting committee and to put the plays into immediate rehearsal. The dates of the festival were fixed for Monday and Tuesday. October 18 and 19. A special vote of appreciation was accorded the casting committee for their work. It was decided to invite the cooperation of country teams in the festival, which will be non-competitive.
