FARMERS’ UNION
PLEASANT POINT BRANCH At the annual meeting of the Pleasant Point branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mr R. G. Cleland presided over a fair attendance of members. The secretary read the annual repot t and presented the balance-sheet, which showed a small surplus for the year. On the motion of Mr R. G. Cleland, seconded by Mr G. Blakemore, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr R. Crombie; vice-president. Mr R. Blakemore; committee, Messrs D. M. Franco. J. Cleland, R. G. Cleland, C. Ley, W. H. Talbot, P. D. Roberts, F. Chapman. C. Roberts. J. Hart, and Mr Ryan; delegates to provincial executive, Messrs R. Crombie, J. Cleland, R. G. Cleland, G. Blakemore, and R. Blakemore; secretary and treasurer. Mr A. B. Struthers; auditor. Mr H. P. Aitken. The secretary stated that he had written to the Wheat Committee asking it to take steps to dispose of wheat which, on account of the moisture content, had not been accepted by the mills. This presented a major problem to some farmers who, through weather conditions, had been unable to dry out their wheat sufficiently to enable it to be accepted as milling wheat.
