Many Enrolments Received "I have approached the Canterbury Education Board and the Board has agreed to grant permission to teachers of Timaru and surrounding schools to attend the sessions of the Community Week,” said Mr A. E. Lawrence, president of the South Canterbury Council for Adult Education, at a meeting of conveners of Community Week held last evening. Mr Lawrence stated that Dr H. Field. Professor of Education at Canterbury University College would attend the opening of the week and would give an address on ‘‘Community and Education.” Miss R. Mac Alister, Supervisor of Infant Education for the South Island would remain in Timaru throughout the week, and Miss D. E. Dolton, specialist in child psychology, would probably speak on Friday evening. Mr A. J. Robertson, chairman of the "Parent and Child" section, explained that many people were under the impression that the children s play centre would be available only for children of those parents who were attending the “Parent and Child” courses. The play centre would be available for the children of parents attending any of the Community Week courses. Mr A. T. Campbell, tutor-organiser for University Extension in Canterbury stated that numerous enrolments had been received and they were confident of receiving many more. In addition to the afternoon and evening sessions, the Tuesday morning session would comprise a visit to the Boys' High School: on Wednesday morning a visit would be made to the Girls’ High School, and on Thursday morning there would be a visit to the Public Gardens where the Curator. Mr A. W. Anderson, would give a talk on horticulture.
