Aerial Offensive In Burma LONDON. Jan. 27. The air offensive in Burma continues. United States aircraft have been concentrating on Japanese patrol activity. They also bombed the railway yards at Mandalay. Railway communications in north Burma have been attacked and a moving train was bombed find set on fire.
A joint communique from India states: “Last night Royal Air Force bombers attacked the important Japanese aerodrome at Toungoo in central Burma. Several tons of bombs were dropped on the runways and dispersal areas and a number of fires were started. Yesterday our aircraft on offensive patrol damaged water transport on the Chindwin River and off the Arakan coast and bombed an enemy occupied village in the Akyab area. None of our aircraft is missing. Anti-aircraft batteries shot down at least two enemy aircraft and damaged others during a recent raid on an Allied position in the Arakan area.
