DEATH OF DOMINION SCIENTIST
Dr. Coleridge Farr (N.Z.P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 27. Dr. Clinton Coleridge Farr, a leading figure in the scientific life of New Zealand and Australia, is dead, aged 76. „ [Dr. Farr was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and was a son of the Ven. Archdeacon Farr. He was educated in Australia and England and was a lecturer in Universities at Sydney and Adelaide. He carried out a magnetic survey of New Zealand, and established the magnetic observatory, between 1898 and 1903. He was lecturer in physics and surveying at Canterbury College from 1903 to 1910, and professor of physics from 1910 to 1936. He wrote many papers for learned societies and was Hector Medallist (physics) in 1922.]
