“I think we can congratulate the members on the success of the New Year’s Day competitions.” said the chairman, Mr S. J. Anderson, at the general executive meeting of the South Canterbury Piping and Dancing Association last evening.
The secretary (Mr J. Glass) reported that the New Year’s Day competitions had been a success from every point of view. Owing to a number of donations received the competitions showed a profit of more than £lO. It was agreed to send a letter of thanks to the donors.
Replying to a suggestion that further competitions be held on Easter Monday, the secretary said that the Geraldine District Patriotic Committee would be holding a gala on Easter Saturday at which dancing competitions would be included.
It was decided to postpone the question of holding a dancing com - petition on Easter Monday pending further information. After some discussion the committee agreed that a picnic be held in the Temuka Domain during the first week • end in February.
