VILLAGE RAIDED

Fatalities In East Anglia

LONDON, January 11

Five persons were killed and 12 injured when a raider made a low-level attack on an East Anglian village, in which a number of women were shopping. Many houses were demolished or damaged by bombs. The raider then machine-gunned the streets. A number of persons who were trapped in the debris were dug out by the civil defence authorities. A Dornier 217 was shot down when two raiders machine-gunned an East Anglian coast town. It is officially stated that enemy aircraft dropped bombs to-day on places near the coast of East Anglia. Some damage and a small number of casualties were caused.
