LINCOLN COLLEGE CROPS

Good Yield Promised

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12.

“In general, yields promise to be good, although, clover crops seem to be carrying heads which are less wellfllled than usual,” stated the report of the director (Professor E. R. Hudson) at a meeting of the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College this morning.

Professor Hudson said that forage crops had yielded a good bulk of feed, except on the very light soils, where the persistent drying winds which had been experienced had caused excessive wilting of the rape and lupin crops grown for fattening at the Ashley Dene. On the college farm the growth of pastures was enabling seed crops to be taken from several areas originally intended for grazing.
