HEAVY TAXES
Decision Of Curtin Government
(1.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 4. The Curtin Government has decided to impose heavy new taxes. It is believed that they will levy about an additional £50,000,000 on the community. Legislation will be brought down in the coming session of the Federal Parliament on January 27 and at least a portion of the additional levy will be placed upon the public almost immediately. New imposts will be primarily income tax, and will affect a wide range of incomes.
