TO BE PROSECUTED

Strikers In War Factories

(Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 3. Hundreds of workers who absented themselves from their jobs in war production industries here on New Years Day will be prosecuted. The Government believes that many of the 35,000 absentee workers were unable to work because the key men were absent. Consequently a majority of the prasecutions are likely to concern key men. The Attorney-General (Dr. IT. /. Evatt), who will make the prosecutions, described the one-day stoppage as "deplorable and indefensible, and a blot on the war effort of the nation.’’ The National Security Regulations provide for fines of up to £lOO or six' months’ gaol.
