VICE-REGAL RAINCLIFF. Jan. 3. This morning their Excellencies, the Governor-General and Lady Newall, were present at a Scouts’ Own Service at the Raincliff Boy Scouts’ camp. Thus afternoon their Excellencies attended divine service at St. David’s Pioneer Memorial Church, Cave.

The Mayor of Timaru, Mr A. E. S. Hanan, paid an official visit to the Boy Scout camp at Raincliff yesterday. Captain W. E. Alexander, Army Headquarters. New Plymouth, has received the appointment of assistant director of the Army Education and Welfare Service, and is promoted to the rank of major. Squadron Leader F. L. Park has returned to New Zealand after three years’ service in the Middle East. During that time he served in Iraq, Persia. Syria and Libya. Squadron Leader Park is the elder brother of Air Vice Marshal Sir Keith Park, commander of the air defences at Malta. When in Cairo, the brothers met for the first time since they were together in Flanders in 1917.
