PIPING AND DANCING

New Year Competitions An appreciative audience attended the competitions conducted under the auspices of the South Canterbury Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association yesterday afternoon. Mr D. McAteer and Mr D. Bruce, both of Timaru, judged the piping and dancing respectively. The president, Mr R. W. Munro, welcomed visiting competitors from as far afield as Christchurch and Oamaru. “This is our first venture in holding the dancing apart from the sports,” he said, “and we thank supporters and competitors for their interest, which is shown by the fine attendance here today.” Results were as follows, competitors being from Timaru unless otherwise stated: — Piping Piping, B Grade —E.
