GLENITI There was a large attendance at the March meeting of the Gleniti Women’s Institute. One new member was welcomed. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs Austin and Mrs Robinson in the illness of her son overseas: also with two members in hospital, Mrs Pringle and Mrs Hunt. The annual meeting of the Waimate Federation will be held in Timaru in April. Mrs Black and Mrs Gardner were appointed delegates. The delegate to the conference in Wellington in July will be Mrs Black. It was decided to purchase wool and knit pullovers for the merchant navy. Mrs G. Ramsay reported having sent into the Patriotic Society three balaclavas, four pairs of mittens, one scarf, two pairs of socks, two skull caps, one pair of seaboot stockings and 14 pairs of mittens made out of sock tops. The competitions resulted as follows: Ginger nuts. Miss H. Rawson 1, Mrs Purvis 2, Mrs Rawson 3. Specimen bloom, large. Mrs Rawson. Cluster, Mis Pearse. Small. Mrs McKay. At the annual meeting th 2 report and balance-sheet showed that a good year’s work had been done. The president thanked all officers and member* for their help and co-operction during the year and impressed upon them to rally to the cause and do their bit for King and Country. The election of officers resulted .is follows: President, Mrs Black; vicepresidents, Mrs G. Ramsay and Mrs Morse; secretary. Mrs Gardener; treasurer. Mrs Cross; committee. Mesdames Caskey, Maney, McMillan. Nicholas. Small. Shoulder sprays were presented to Mrs Black. Mrs Finlay, Mrs Cross and to the scrutineers, Mrs Burns and Miss Palliser.
