The Board's budget for £750.000 included the following expenditure: £317.000 for comforts and parcels for fit soldiers in New Zealand and overseas, £115.000 for sick and wounded soldiers, £170,000 for prisoners of war, and £150,000 for the relief of distress overseas. Canterbury, he said, required the remaining £150,000 for post war relief, help for next-of-kin, clubs and entertainment of soldiers wi.hin the province.
