PUBLIC NOTICES WASTE METALS FINAL DRIVE THE FINAL DRIVE for the collec--1 lion of non-rusting metals will be made in Tlmaru by Boy Scouts and Cubs on Monday Evening, February 2, 1942. The date of this drive has been altered owing to the Trades Picnic Holiday, and will bq made in Section No 3 which comprises all that portion of the town north of Wai-iti Road (including north side of Wai-iti Road). A circular will be delivered to every home in this section prior to the drive being made. As the proceeds from the sales of waste metals collected will help to increase the Patriotic Funds it is confidently hoped that Citizens will cooperate in making this final drive a success. P. B. FOOTE. Acting Mayor. SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTION AND NATIONAL SECURITY TAX CHARGE on income other than salary or wages: February instalment. The fourth quarterly instalment of the Social Security Charge and National Security tax of 2/- in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended March 31, 1941, falls due on February 1. Amounts unpaid within one month following the due date incur 10 per cent, penalty. The charge is payable by—(a) All persons aged 16 years or ovei ordinarily resident in New Zealand (including natives but excluding persons receiving total disability war pensions). (b) All companies, other than those specifially exempted. (c) All trustees in respect of Trustees' income, 1.e., income derived by such trustees which no beneficiary is entitled to receive during the income year. Payment may be made at any money-order office upon production of the previous receipt or remitted to the Commissioner of Taxes, Wellington, together with the previous receipt or full particulars thereof. SOCIAL SECURITY REGISTRATION FEE—A quarterly instalment (5/-) is payable on February 1 by male persons aged 20 years or over ordinarily resident in New Zealand who are not exempt. Exemption details and forms may be obtained at money-order offices. Every person entitled to exemption (including those receiving Age Benefits under the Social Security Act but no other income) must complete the exemption application form and present it with his coupon-book at a money-order office within 7 days after the last day for payment of the instalment, otherwise payment may be demanded. Full name and postal address must be entered on the relative coupon before payment of any instalment. An employer employing for more than seven days a person unregistered or in arrear with the Registration fee Is liable on summary conviction to a fine of £2O. All persons ordinarily resident in New Zealand must register under the Social Security Act within one month of attaining the age of sixteen and obtain a couponbook.
