Advice has been received that Private A. G. Gosling, of Pleasant Point, is a prisoner of war. The Rev. Father M. Murphy, S.M., Whangarei, has been transferred to Nelson. His successor is the Rev. Father O’Connor, Timaru. Mr A. Calder, Physical Welfare Officer, Department of Internal Affairs, has returned from a refresher course and conference Wellington. Mr W. Kane, District Public Truste;, Greymouth, has received notice of transfer to the position of first assistant District Public Trustee at Christchurch, vice Mr A. H. Ihle, who has been appointed Commissioner of Patents, Wellington. Mr Kane will be succeeded in Greymouth by Mr W. R. Miller, at present second assistant District Public Trustee at Auckland. The transfer will take place in about three weeks. Chaplain Captain W. H. Greensk. ’a, minister of Central Methodist Church, Invercargill, has been granted indefinite leave of absence. The officials the church propose to request the New Zealand Methodist Conference, which sits in Wellington next month, to appoint a minister to superintend the circuit temporarily. Chaplain Captain Greenslade is attached to the Otago Regiment in mobilisation camp.
