Severe Earthquake A very severe earthquake in the Arafura Sea, south of Dutch New Guinea, was recorded early yesterday morning by the Riverview Observatory Sydney. The maximum sweep of the recording pen was more than eight inches. Aluminium Supplies The War Production Board has earmarked the entire aluminium supply of the United Stater for war production and is prohibiting immediately all civilian manufacture except a handful of essential items which will be restricted to low-grade aluminium. Communists Execu.' ed The Berlin radio announced that six Communists were executed and five sentenced to imprisonment for life for aiding the reorganisation of the Communist Party in Spain. Hoarded Sugar The Price Administrator. Mr L. Henderson, announced in Washington that everyone would be limited to 12oz. of sugar a week under the rationing plan beginning in the middle of February. He warned that the Government planned to rec' -er hoarded supplies from householders if necessary.
