Skirting And Classing Of Wool (P.A.) WANGANUI, Jan. 28. When quality and style are taken into account, prices were satisfactory and equivalent to recent realisations, stated the official report issued by the Wanganui Woolbrokers’ Association on the third appraisal of the current season. The appraisal began at the week-end and was concluded to-day. The number of bales offered was 25,166. The continued spell of broken weather had retarded shearing, and this had an appreciable effect on the quantity of wool available. The clips offered comprised wools from the Wanganui, Rangitikei, Taranaki and Waimarino districts. Though well grown the wool was not in as good condition as usual owing to discolouration as a result of the abnormal season. The bulk of the bellies and pieces were stained, and this condition was reflected in the prices as compared with last year. A fair quantity of lambs wool was offered and, generally speaking, was in fairly good condition. Prices were satisfactory. As in the earlier appraisals, marked preference was shown to well skirted and classed clips. Growers were well repaid for their efforts in this respect.
