PITCHED BATTLES

Polish Resistance To Germans

LONDON, Sept. 7.

Polish resistance to Germany has flared into pitched battles between the guards of railway stations and grain warehouses and peasants, Moscow radio states. This is reported in German newspapers, which admit the seriousness of the revolt spreading through Poland.

Moscow radio added that at one place where the German police failed to quell a three-day revolt, army regulars were sent to aid the police. The Germans have increased their guards on all railway stations, grain warehouses and bridges. In retaliation for the seizure of foodstuffs by the Germans, angry peasants have begun a campaign of blowing up railway lines and destroying grain depots.
