GERALDINE BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE
DONORS ARE WANTED A blood transfusion service is to be established in Geraldine as part of the Emergency Precautions Scheme, and the medical controller. Dr L. C. Mail, has asked those willing to act as blood donors to hand in their names to the secretary, Mr C. L. Kirby, or himself before August 9. Dr Mail said yesterday that it would be necessary to group the blood of those offering their services, and these would be listed in their separate categories and would be available for use when required. Modern methods of blood transfusion were simple, he said, and did not entail the use of incisions in the arm of the donor. Any healthy Individuals may offer their services. The availability of such a service in Geraldine, he said, though it might not often be required, would be of great value in an emergency, and could result in the saving of life in a serious accident or other emergency. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Peel Forest Horticultural Society were as follows: President, Mr L. N. Brown; secretary, Mrs P. A. Thomson; treasurere, Mrs Boyd. It was agreed not to hold the summer show this year.
