PARACHUTE FOULS AIRCRAFT
Pupil pilot Killed (PA.) WELLINGTON, July 29. . Ah airman pilot under training wss killed instantly near Blenheim this afternoon When he attempted to leave a trainer aircraft of which he was the sole occupant by parachute. He was Leading Aireriittmah Morris Desmond Jurgens, son of Mr H. W. P. Jurgens. 46 Crofton Road- Marton. Jurgens took off on a flight from the RN.Z.A.F. station at Woodbourne to carrv out training exercises. In the course of the flight he apparently attempted to leave the aircraft by parachute. The evidence indicates that the parachute fouled the aircraft as thfe body was found with the parachute badly torn. Thfe accident occurred near the Omaka river, where the body was recovered ih the rivetbed, approximately one mile south west of Coulter’s hill and six miles West of Woodbourite. The aircraft was completely wrecked but did not catch fire. A court of inquiry will be held.
