PROFIT OF £l2B The accounts for the play “Charity Begins” have now been completed. The net amount handed to the patriotic fund was £l2B/5/10. The cost of this effort was particularly low, being only £6/17/10, which included royalty on the play. LOCAL ELECTIONS The official count of votes cast in the local body elections in the Mackenzie County has now been completed. There were a few alterations to the original count, but the results were not affected. AERODROME CONSTRUCTION Mr D. Jeune has received advice that an aerodrome construction unit may soon be formed for service overseas and that to avoid delay in forming the unit if and when it is required, it is desired to obtain advance information relative to men willing to offer their services. Recruits are to be between the age of 20 and 40 years, but in special cases men up to 50 wUI be considered. Consideration wiU also be given to men who because of some slight physical defect, are ineligible for front-line service. Anyone desirous of volunteering should get in touch with Mr Jeune as soon as possible. CONCERT AT ALBURY The Albury Public Hall was packed to capacity- recently when “Twenty Girls and a Man,” staged a concert and dance in aid of the soldiers’ parcel fund. The programme opened with "Nautical Minutes,” in which 20 girls took part. They presented a very colourful picture dressed as sailor boys and sailor girls, with the Union Jack as a background. Two plays were presented. Both were weU acted and were well received by the audience. Six girls took charge of the dancing side of the programme. In the tap Wice'TKeFwm dtessed in military style and in the ballet in striking black and white frocks. Mandoline, violin and pianoforte trios were played and well received. Ten girls dressed veiy . effectively sang “Ten Pretty Girls” and "Come to the Fair.” Two songs, “Now on Land and Sea Descending” and "An Eriskay Love Lilt,” sung in parts, were a very fitting conclusion. After the concert Mr R. Davison spoke on behalf of the public and thanked Mrs Berg for her untiring efforts and congratulated her on the fine performance. Mr Berg replied on behalf of Mrs Berg. The very gratifying sum of £23/2/- was raised. After supper the evening was spent in dancing. Miss R. Sullivan and Mrs R. Tinkler supplied the music and Mr W. Ross and Mr A. EUlott were M.C.’s.
