Lieutenant A. B. Green, of Timaru, who was wounded in both legs by bomb splinters on April 6, was able to get about agaiti within a week.
Mr H. A. Wilson, of Christchurch, assistant general manager of Booth, Macdonald, Ltd.,, is visiting Timaru.
The Rev. R. D. McEwan, Presbyterian minister at Paeroa, has resigned his charge to resume his previous calling as an engineer for the duration of the war. He will continue his association with the church.
Cabled advice has been received that Lieutenant E. W. Kerr (Cave), Trooper A. Scott (Cannington), Lieutenant D. Parsons (Timaru), and Private W. O’Brien (Timaru), were safely evacuated from Greece.
The Dean of Hamilton, the Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog, has been appointed chaplain of a hospital ship. Dean Weatherhog was born in England and served in the British Red Cross and the Navy during the Great War. He came to New Zealand in 1921, and was appointed curate at Whangarei. He was later vicar of Otorohanga and vicar of Taumarunui. He returned to England, and, after serving at Abington, was appointed missioner to seamen at Rio de Janeiro. He was appointed Dean of Hamilton six years ago.
