DISSATISFACTION IN AUCKLAND

Selection Of Missioner To U.S.A. (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 8. Dissatisfaction with the Government’s selection of the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, to go to the United States to initiate and promote trade negotiations was expressed at a meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-day. Disclaiming political bias, Mr Gainor Jackson said, the Minister was not qualified to represent the farmers and not sufficiently versed in the other side of business to represent the importers, and he could not be considered satisfactory from the diplomatic viewpoint. A motion proposed by Mr Jackson that the Chamber should express its disappointment at the appointment of one with so few qualifications and limited experience as Mr Langstone for such an important mission was carried unanimously.
