Mr P. Deere on Monday completed 50 years of service with the Greymouth Fire Brigade, of which he is superintendent.

Mr F. W. Doldge, M.P., has returned from Sydney where he went owing to the illness of his mother who lives at Vaucluse.

The Rev. A. R. Anderson, chaplain of icing’s College, Auckland, is leaving to take up an appointment as a chaplain with the military forces. The Rev. C. H. Olds, minister in charge of the Hastings Methodist Church, has accepted a call to Hamilton. He will take up the duties next year. Mr H. H. Rodd, who has been manager of the Christchurch branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia for the last six and a half years, has been appointed manager of the bank at Brisbane. His successor is Mr Charles Sussens, who opened the branch at Oamaru in 1925 and was manager at Napier at the time of the earthquake. Mr Sussens is at present attached to the inspecting staff in Victoria, and is expected in New Zealand in a few weeks’ time.
