CROWN TENANTS
WASHDYKE BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Washdyke Branch of the Crown Tenants Association was held in the residence of Mr S. J. Browne, who presided over a large attendance of members. Mr R. M. Sievwright reported on the activities of the Primary Production Council. It was decided that the delegate again express concern at the fall to production on the valuable Seadown lands. Opportunity was taken at the close of the meeting to tender a social to Mr and Mrs R. M. Sievwright who are leaving to reside in Timaru. There was a large number of residents present. Games were played. Community singing was indulged to and items were contributed by Mr W. Darling. Mrs R. Fidler Mr R. M. Sievwright and J. Harris (solos). Mrs R. M. Sievwright and J Harris (elocutionary items), and Mr R. M. Sievwright (sleight of hand). Mrs R. Fidler was the pianist. Mr J Harris said it was desired to take the opportunity to express their esteem and regard for the parting guests, who had done so much for the district. He took much pleasure on behalf of the residents in presenting them with a sum of money. He trusted they would still keep in touch with the district. Mr Sievwright assured the gathering that their wishes and gifts were much appreciated, and he hoped he would still be able to continue to take an active interest in the district.
