NEW PRIME MINISTER

Northern Ireland Appointment By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, November 25. Mr J. M. Andrews, Minister of Finance in Northern Ireland, has accepted the post of Prime Minister, following the death of Lord Cralgavon. He will continue to hold the portfolio of finance. The King has sent a telegram to the Governor of Northern Ireland expressing his regret at the death of Lord Craigavon and similar messages have been forwarded by Mr De Valera and Mr James Cosgrave, Leader of the Opposition. Better Relations Possible The possibility of better relations between Northern and Southern Ireland is being canvassed following the death of Lord Craigavon, who in his lifetime made it clear that he never would agree to anything separating Ulster from the United Kingdom. The “Daily Express” says that whole there is no suggestion of this, the situation will now be altered. The “Manchester Guardian” recalls Lord Cralgavon’s campaign against Home Rule and says he took credit for establishing the Ulster Voluntr-y Force —the first body of men in history openly organised, drilled and armed to defy the law of the land. It often seemed to Englishmen of all parties that igavon was an anachronism. He carried over into a world that had outgrown it the prow of the old Ulster sectarianism and political bigotry, yet his hold on Ulster survived all attempts to shake it.
