SOCIAL NOTES

Mrs L. Shields, who was the guest of Mrs Harold Elworthy, “Craigmore,” has returned to Dunedin. Mrs J. M. Scott, Seddon Street, spent the week-end in Waimate. Miss Muriel D.angar, Sydney, will arrive this week from England on a visit to Mrs W. T. Ritchie, “Te Tawa.” Miss Dorothy Barron, Albert Street, who is on a visit to Mrs C. Ronaldson, Christchurch, will return home to-day. Mr and Mrs J. Sim, who were guests at the Grosvenor, returned yesterday to Dunedin. Mrs B. P. Arrowsmith performed the ceremony at the launching of H.M.S. Port Napier at Wallsend-on-Tyne, England. Mr Arrowsmith was born in Petone and served his time in the Petone Railway Workshops. He is now Chief Superintendent Engineer to the Cunard-White Star Line.
