A SURPRISE FOR ‘‘JERRY
(From Our Own Correspondent) LONDON, September 21. Captain J. W. A. Stephenson, the famous cricketing all-rounder who played for Essex, revealed this week that he had his own “secret weapon.” While on night patrol in Flanders he always carried with him two cricket balls. The idea was that if. in the dim light, he was surprised it would have been quicker to hurl a ball at the enemy than to draw his pistol.
