SALVATION ARMY WORK Mounting losses of Salvation Army property in England are resulting from the air bombardment, according to news received from London, and the number of buildings damaged or destroyed now amounts to over a hundred. A large London maternity hospital is among the latest to suffer, but. as all the patients were in shelters at the time, there were no casualties and the nurses continued their work calmly. More men’s hostels in London and the Midlands have also been hit. A scheme for the more fortunate corps to help those that have suffered is meeting a ready response and rescue, relief and first-aid work in raided areas is being continued by the organisation. Several members of the Salvation Army have been hurt in air raids. The first fatal casualty among the officers in England was Major Ashworth Pratt, the corps officer at Dover.
