TERRITORIAL BALLOT
High Percentage Unfit By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 25. The medical exammation of men drawn from the Wellington and Hutt Valley areas in the second Territorial ballot has been proceeding for a fortnight and an analysis of the figures shows that approximately 54 per cent, of those examined have been rejected as permanently or temporarily unfit for service—24 per cent, as temporarily unfit, and 30 per cent, as permanently unfit. The figures are: Total examined for fortnight ended Saturday, 2383; fit, 1111; temporarily unfit 564; permanently unfit, 708. It is pointed out that the ballot has been drawn from all men within the age group, regardless of their condition of health, and also that the Reserve does not include many thousands of single men passed as fit and already serving in, or accepted for, the Navy, Army and Air Force.
