WELFARE OF TROOPS
War Secretary’s Thanks British Official Wireless RUGBY, November 23 (Received November 24, 6.30 p.m.) In a letter sent to the heads of municipalities and the chairmen of other civic authorities, the Secretary of State for War (Mr Anthony Eden) tenders thanks for the work of the last 12 months devoted to the welfare and comfort of troops who have been in their areas and puts forward suggestions to meet entertainment and cultural needs in the winter. Mr Eden points out that service men will depend in the coming months upon local hospitality for happiness and entertainment and suggests the formation of committees to arrange and supervise entertainment and recreative activities in conjunction with the local welfare officer.
