Mr H. O. Govan, district land registrar at New Plymouth, assistant commissioner of stamp duties and assistant registrar of companies, is to retire on November 30 after 40 years’ service. His successor will be Mr W. E. Brown, Nelson, who was formerly stationed at New Plymouth. Messrs W. Thomas and A. E. Lawrence, representing the South Canterbury District Council of Adult Education, journeyed to Christchurch on Friday to attend the meeting of the Adult Education Advisory Committee of Canterbury University College which had under review the year’s activities in Canterbury and the West Coast, and formulated plans for next year’s work in the field of adult education.
