GERALDINE MEN ON LEAVE
PRESENTATIONS MADE Members of the Geraldine Football Club met on Friday evening when presentations were made to LanceCorporal H. South, Gunner D. Blissett and Mr G. Macfarlane who will enter camp shortly. In making the presentation of a money belt to each, the president of the club (Mr F. Sherratt) conveyed the best wishes of the members and wished the men good luck and God speed. Opportunity was also taken by a gathering of farmers to present Mr Macfarlane with a fountain pen. The presentation was made by Mr H. Mallinson.
PERSONAL Miss Prudence Davison, “Waitui,” Geraldine, is the guest of Mrs Smith Morton, Oamaru. Miss Daphne Adams, Methven, is spending a holiday with Mrs J. Robertson, Talbot Street. Mr and Mrs C. Cliff who have been visiting Mr and Mrs J. P. Cliff, will leave for Wellington to-day. DOUBLE FEATURE A mystery so bewildering that it has to be solved twice is the situation facing the Roving Reporters, Michael Whalen and Chick Chandler, in their latest escapade, “While New York Sleeps,” to be screened in a double feature programme at the Geraldine Municipal Theatre to-night at 8 o’clock. From all reports it would seem that Whalen and Chandler, aided by Jean Rogers, have really got themselves into a jam this time. Peter Lorre in “Mysterious Mr Moto,” is a drama of thrills. Featured in the cast are Mary Maguire, Henry Wilcoxon, and Erik Rhodes. Addresses on Egypt and Palestine will be given by Mr L. Gould in the Gospel Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7.30.
