Judy Garland to take Role of a Mother
Judy Garland is making extensive make-up and hairdress tests, for her part in “Little Nellie Kelly. ’ She will play a young mother in the first part of the picture, and then later will have the role of her own daughter. The difference in the two characters has made necessary a definite change in the two personalities, which will be achieved through make-up and characterisation. Rod La Rocque Back In Mystery Drama Rod La Rocque, who gained fame in silents many years ago, is starred in “International Crime,” a new mystery drama, that combines to an unusual degree the less serious treatment of a detectives work with a background as live as current headlines. Rod La Rocque appears as a radio commentator in a fast moving tale of a man who is dragged Into an international intrigue through the actions of his “girl Friday” and has to solve a perfect crime or see an entire nation ruined. Opposing his efforts are the international conspirators, the police, who regard him as an interloper, and the well meaning but poorly planned attempts of his assistant, a charming young woman, to help. The cast includes Astrid Allwyn, as his assistant. This film will be released throughout New Zealand in the near future.
