Sheffield’s war weapons’ week, in which appeals were made for interest free loans and gifts, realised £5,017,184, an average of £lO a head. Women Losing Numerical Superiority The population statistical abstract 1924-1938 shows that women are steadily losing their numerical superiority over men in the United Kingdom. Out of a population of 47,676,000, females number 24,756,000, indicating that the shrinkage by tens of thousands yearly from the former 2,000,000 advantage continues.
