UNFIT VOLUNTEERS
Withdrawn From Ballots By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 22. Single men in the first division of the National Reserve who volunteered for overseas service before July 23, but who were rejected on medical grounds as permanently unfit for any type )f military service within or outside New Zealand in general were withdrawn from the first division and transferred to the third division, which means that they have not been liable to be drawn in the three ballots held. Before the transfer was made, the medical papers of the men concerned were submitted to a special board. In cases where the original medical grading was confirmed, the men were transferred to the third division ai;d their cards were therefore excluded from any ballots for overseas or territorial service. Regular purges of the first division rolls were made to remove permanently unfit men, also men past the maximum age limit at the time of publication of the names.
