TROOPS OVERSEAS

A Christmas Message By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 20. A community message is being sent by air mail to Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V.C., for transmission to the troops at Christmas greetings from people in all walks of life in the Dominion. It is in the form of a parchment scroll, three feet by two, adorned with a New Zealand scene. At the bottom is a gold seal bearing the words “New Zealand” and “Good Luck boys.” The scroll has been signed by 350 persons, including Viscount Galway and Mr Fraser. Part of the message reads: “Please accept for yourself, and convey to our boys on land, on sea and in the air, our loving Christmas greetings. We shall miss you in New Zealand this Christmas, but shall remember you all with pride and thankfulness for helping to maintain and champion the real spirit of Christmas. May you all celebrate a happy Christmas. Kia Ora!”
